Exploration and construction

I finished constructing the elevator water shaft. Unfortunately using it with a boat is tricky, as it's very easy to slam into the ceiling (boats are buoyant, so instantly rise in the water) and get stuck, losing a life and a half every second. However, it is possible to swim upstream and survive as long as you're decently prompt. Of course, downwards is very easy :)

Exploration and construction have to be tied together - if you go exploring, you better build yourself a beacon (or a series of them) to find your way back. This one saved me many times.

Looks like water *can* flow in winter - but it doesn't go very far. Maybe if I put a lava source nearby I can make a lake ... but probably not! Looking forward to exploring some more ... alternately, I may start working on a mine track between my two lairs.
